The Sharon Performing Artists Association, formerly the Sharon Chamber Music Association, was founded in 1990 by George Mellman. It is an all-volunteer community service organization committed to promoting professional-calibre musical activities in Sharon and to encouraging public performances by young musicians.

Donations and concert proceeds are used for student scholarships and to support local music and music education. The scholarships are awarded annually in June for summer music camps and summer music festivals as well as to graduating seniors who have participated in our Youth Concerts.

We are very grateful to the Unitarian Church of Sharon for hosting all our concerts!

The Sharon Performing Artists Association is pleased to present the Twelfth Annual Senior/College recital this Saturday, June 12, at 7:30 PM which will feature chamber music, piano and French Horn solos, a soprano soloist and a vocal ensemble. The concert will take place at the Unitarian Church of Sharon, 4 North Main Street (Rte 27), Sharon

Avery Yen of Sharon, a sophomore at Dartmouth College, will play the first movement of Barber’s Cello Concerto, accompanied by Yi-Chen Yeh from Canton, who has a master’s degree in piano performance from McGill University.  They will be joined by Ingrid Yen, violin, in the first movement of Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio in C minor, op.66, no. 2 in C minor.  Two clarinetists, Sangwon Lee of Walpole, a sophomore at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and Patrick Lim, who studies at Julliard and Columbia, will play Concert Piece No. 2 by Mendelssohn.

Brahms’ Rhapsody and Intermezzo in B minor from Op. 119 and Ravel’s La Valse  will be the piano solos played by
Anton Faynberg of Stoughton, a 2010 graduate from Oberlin College, and Ellen Olanska, a senior at Oberlin, respectively.

A vocal quartet from Sharon High School, Ayesha Sunduram, Ingrid Yen, Alex Warstadt and Jarrod Stein will sing “O schöne Nacht” by Brahms.   Ayesha and Alex just graduated last weekend.

Caroline Duchin of Sharon, soprano, a sophomore at Haverford College, will sing several pieces and Emily Eckart, a sophomore at Harvard University who is majoring in music, will play a  French horn solo.
